In 1966, the Duetto was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The car only received that name after a draw from the entries for a competition. However, a chocolate manufacturer claimed to hold the rights to the name for one of its products. After 190 examples, the name Duetto was discontinued, although the first series of Spiders (also known as 'Osso di sepia') is still referred to by it. The second series was called Coda tronca, the third series Aerodinamica, and the fourth series Type 4.
