In 1976, five years after the introduction of the Alfasud, the Alfasud Sprint was introduced. As with the berlina version, Giugiaro was responsible for the design. During the major facelift in 1983, , among other changes the stainless steel bumpers were replaced by plastic shield bumpers. The 'Alfasud' in the name was dropped and the model continued as the 'Sprint'. A total of 116,552 units were produced until 1989.
